Pikolite Blood Test

In this project, we developed and designed a product for on-site blood tests allowing family doctors to perform laboratory tests in the clinic without the need for equipment.

The project included the design of the decoding device "Reader" and the design of the replaceable test unit "Cartridge". LightStat is an American company that develops diagnostic solutions based on blood tests. Its flagship product PikoLite is a microfluidics-based product capable of giving results within minutes. The company has developed “Cartridges” for various diagnostics in the field of the heart system and metabolism.

During the development of the project, we looked for the points of the interface where we can make it easier for the users and create a better experience. The development and planning of the internal product hardware of the Cartridge was done by us in close collaboration with clinical biochemists, scientists and development laboratories in Israel, Germany and Singapore. The interface settings were designed together with doctors and for this purpose working models were created to test the interface.

The development process included many models for ergonomic testing and models of the internal hardware that were tested in the laboratories. Co-designer in the project: Ran Kazes.
